WHAT WE'RE ALL ABOUT

Perky's Floating Bar is a warm and casual bar located in the heart of Queenstown. Our cozy indoor and outdoor spaces create an atmosphere where locals, wanderers, and adventurers come together to share a drink as equals. Our carefully curated drinks menu is sure to delight you with every sip.

We offer panoramic views of Lake Whakatipu and the impressive surrounding mountain peaks. Although we don't have a commercial kitchen on board, you're welcome to bring your favourite takeaways to the boat.

At Perky's Floating Bar, we are more than just a place to grab drinks - we are a community. What are you waiting for? Drop by and join us!

OUR HISTORY

Built in Colchester, England 1955 the boat was originally named Ngaroto.

Ngaroto was shipped to Lake Rotorua, in the north island of New Zealand and worked as a cruise boat.

In 2007 it was purchased by Wayne & Betty Perkins, and with a lot of work to be done to the boat, it was sent to Nelson for an extensive refit.

Once in good shape, Queenstown was it's new destination where the Million Dollar Cruise was born on Lake Whakatipu.

A change of name only seemed right and Million Dollar 1 came to fruition.

Million Dollar 1 then operated as a lunchtime cruise boat, taking passengers up and down the lake with a stop off at the Hilton Hotel for lunch. It also operated as the Maori Cultural Cruise for some time after that.

In 2015 a second boat was bought and given the name Million Dollar 2, where it took over all the cruise operations.

With the original boat no longer in use, Perky’s Floating Bar was born and the rest, as they say, is history!
